At Specialty Group, we are always looking for opportunities where we can promote the health of our environment whether it is indoor air or the air that we breathe when we enjoy the great outdoors. Recently, we partnered with One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. Through this partnership, we will be planting trees monthly in one of the Pacific Northwest's National Forest.
As we know, the air that we breathe is critically important. Radon, asbestos, and mold can infect our airways and cause disease. On top of our indoor air health, it is important to think about the impact that outdoor air quality has on our communities. The work that One Tree Planted has done promotes the reforestation of many different areas around the world, and as a result, has created healthier environments for both people and animals. The reforestation has allowed for areas to start replenishing and rebuilding themselves.
Air quality has a direct impact on our overall health and quality of life. Just like how radon has been known to lead to lung cancer, air-pollution can also increase your chances of respiratory infection, lung cancer, or cardiovascular disease. Trees not only produce more oxygen for us to breathe, but they can also kill off other pollutants that are in the air. Fun Fact: For every ton of new tree growth, about 1.5 tons of CO2 is removed from the air and 1.07 tons of oxygen is produced.
Some of the most recent projects from One Tree Planted include massive restoration and reforestation in mining land across Pennsylvania, wildlife restoration in Ethiopia, and the creation of buffer zones in Indonesia in order to prevent water contamination.
We have decided to have our trees planted in the National Forests in the Pacific Northwest in order to continue supporting the local areas as well as help rebuild after wildfires, which have affected us personally in this area. For more information, check out the video linked here!
